New Newsletter
Dear NOCOLOK
News readers,
This is the first
edition of the NOCOLOK News in the new
newsletter format. In the future the NOCOLOK
Team would like to provide you with the latest
information about aluminium brazing more
frequently by e-mail.
The new format is
easier to handle – you no longer need to
download a PDF file, you can read the newsletter
directly in your mail program. To make the
NOCOLOK newsletter even more attractive, we
would like to know what is of interest to you
and which topics would you like to read about in
the NOCOLOK news.
We
look forward to your feedback!
Enjoy your reading

P.S. There is
still one more point to make. We want to
constantly improve for our customers and are
therefore particularly interested in your
opinion. Please participate in our survey! We
would like to reward you for the five minutes of
your time spent taking part: among all
participants who take part in 2012 we will
raffle an iPad 3 with 32GB storage space and in
addition an iPod Nano will be raffled each
quarter.

NOCOLOK follows REACH
Registration status
NOCOLOK Flux is
registered under the chemical name potassium
aluminium fluorides by the ECHA (European
Chemical Agency) since 1 December 2010.
Solvay Fluor
submitted all data required for the registration
and NOCOLOK was re-classified by the ECHA and
was provided with warning notices for the GHS
system. Since then all case packs with new
standardized labels and new SDS (Safety Data
Sheets) are available for users.
All chemical
products with an annual production of up to
1,000 tons per year must be registered with the
ECHA by 1 June 2013.
Presently, the
preparations for NOCOLOK Zn Flux are in
progress, the first required data has been
submitted.
AHR EXPO Review
Chicago 2012
The AHR Show in
Chicago in late January 2012 was visited by
almost 60,000 trade visitors from the
refrigeration and air-conditioning sectors.
Nearly 2,000 exhibitors, among them Solvay
Fluorides, presented the latest developments in
air-conditioning technology.
The trend towards
lighter and more efficient aluminium heat
exchangers continues. This time, in addition to
NOCOLOK, Solvay Fluorides also presents the
refrigerants from the SOLKANE series. Visitors
to the Solvay booth were particularly
enthusiastic about the NOCOLOK and SOLKANE app.
Intensive contact
with the customers is most important for Werner
Schmitt, head of marketing at Solvay Fluor: “The
AHR was once again a great success for us, we
had many interesting conversations with opinion
leaders in the supply chain, and we will be
present at the next show in 2013 in Dallas.”
NOCOLOK® Pioneered Flux Technology -
Connected Thinking
Solvay Fluor is
the leading pioneer for aluminium brazing – and
has been for years. With our revolutionary
NOCOLOK Flux we are the global market leader and
trendsetter – our customers know: “NOCOLOK
products are more than just a flux!” A wide net
of specialists stretches across the globe
locally supporting our customers. And, our
research technologists continue to develop the
best flux for your application. Connected global
thinking and local support. NOCOLOK Flux without
frontiers.
Under the motto
“Connected global thinking and local support” we
introduce you two members of the NOCOLOK team
Marc Lacroix coordinates the
inorganic research activities of the Global
Business Unit, Solvay Special Chemicals from
Hannover. The NOCOLOK products therefore
belong to his research area. Mr. Lacroix
brings his extensive know-how about inorganic
specialties and sees the NOCOLOK research from
a different perspective, thus bringing many
additional ideas and approaches. He knows all
the inorganic laboratories at the Solvay sites
and sees synergies arising. For example, the
laboratory at the Hönningen plant where
research is currently being carried out on
projects in the areas of viscosity and
particle sizes for NOCOLOK.
Dan Lauzon will join again
the NOCOLOK and inorganic products team at
Solvay Fluorides (USA) together with Ken
Neugebauer and Manos Eliades. Beside their
Sales activities the team will also ensure
Global Technical Service and contribute to the
expansion of the NOCOLOK related products
worldwide and especially in Asia. Dan Lauzon
is NOCOLOK specialist and spent several years
in Seoul, South Korea with establishing the
local production of NOCOLOK. The NOCOLOK team
welcomes Dan’s return.
New glass brazing
furnace in the
NOCOLOK Technical Center
Many visitors to
seminars, trade shows or videos are already
familiar with the test glass brazing furnace in
the NOCOLOK Technical Center. The unique furnace
now has a big brother. All components of the new
test furnace, except for the radiant heater,
were developed in own production at Solvay.
The fluorine
research workshop in Hannover has done an
excellent job, “The construction of such a
furnace is only possible with the tremendous
expertise of the colleagues in the test
workshop,” says Andreas Becker, a Solvay Fluor
research employee. “With the new glass furnace,
it is possible to braze larger objects, such as
aluminium wafers for refrigerant test series for
automobile producers.”
Specially
developed software can capture every stage of
the brazing process as high-resolution images –
so that not even the tiniest detail of the
brazing process can escape the testers. The new
furnace saves energy and time – test brazing
series with larger objects no longer require the
much larger Camlaw brazing furnace at the
Technical Center.
The next stage of
development is already being planned: in a
unique process Solvay’s glass blowers have
succeeded in forming a square glass body, which
offers even more space for larger items.
An overview of all
services from the NOCOLOK Technical Center is
offered in the new brochure, which is available
for download.
